Personal Training with DM FITNESS

All training plans are tailored to the individual and all fitness levels are welcome.

Why should we exercise?

It’s medically proven that people who do regular physical activity have:

  • Up to 35% lower risk of coronary heart disease and stroke
  • Up to 50% lower risk of type 2 diabetes
  • Up to 50% lower risk of colon cancer
  • Up to 20% lower risk of breast cancer
  • A 30% lower risk of falls (among older adults)
  • Up to 30% lower risk of depression
  • Up to 30% lower risk of dementia

The world is full of so-called magical pills and products that promise you amazing results and show you photographs which are supposed to be proof that they have the miracle cure.

Don’t be fooled by their great advertising – there is no miracle cure, and their advice does not take any consideration of your lifestyle, diet or medical conditions.

How does Personal Training work?

At DM Fitness I offer 1 to 1 or 1 to 2 training and Boot Camps.

During your first free informal introduction/consultation, we discuss your goals and I create a personal profile about you, to monitor your progress and goals.

We discuss an exercise plan along with simple nutrition advice (no fad diets or detox) and I will be completely honest about what I think you can realistically achieve. No false promises!

PT (Personal Training) sessions can be done at home, in a Studio or outside in a park and I provide continued motivation, guidance and help because I want you to succeed too!

Give me a call on 07717 130784 or send me an email at [email protected] today to set up a time to meet.

Not sure if PT is for you?

This is what a couple of my PT clients had to say…

“We (myself and husband) have been having PT sessions with Darren once a week for 5 weeks, we were both very unfit and were worried we would struggle but Darren caters for all levels of fitness and tailors the sessions especially for you.

Although we still have a long way to go we are managing to do more each week and with Darren’s enthusiasm I’m sure we will get there.”

Clare Brown

“I have been seeing Darren as a one-to-one personal trainer now for six weeks. I am doing things I never dreamed I could do. I feel a happier person, and week by week, I am seeing improvements in my fitness. I thoroughly recommend his PT sessions.

Darren gives sound, achievable advice, pushing you without you realising you are being pushed.”

Laura Salmon

“Darren is an incredibly knowledgeable PT instructor, and works very hard to make you feel as comfortable as possible during the session. Unlike a lot of PT instructors, who are focused on pushing you to your utmost limit, Darren focuses on how to improve not only your mobility but also your technique, in order to maximise your performance. Definitely recommend!”

Sam Byers

“Can’t believe I’ve found such a knowledgable PT Instructor to help me improve my fitness and get to my goals without causing further injury to my arthritic knee and lower back facet joint problem! Darren takes great care in 1-1 sessions ensuring top form when doing different exercises. I am feeling confident that he will help me achieve my goal too! Just so different to other PT Instructors and helps you to train safely within your own limits of mobility and weak areas. He’s currently helping me to strengthen my core and teaching me how to squat properly! I had been training previously for 18 months with a bootcamp and had been doing squats incorrectly all that time! It’s so difficult to find a really good instructor but now I’ve hit the jack pot! Highly recommend Darren Matthews!

Meet Cheryl…

Cheryl has been coming to boot camps for approximately 18 months. Also having a personal training session once a week since Jan 2018. She completes 5k, 10k , half marathons, 20 miles and marathons for fun.

Cheryl only came to boot camp to keep her Mum company and found it addictive, attending 2 a week. She soon noticed that her running had improved by doing something different . Cheryl started having a personal training session once a week. The main goal was to improve her running . As part of the first PT an assessment was carried out to check any weaknesses on the posterior chain. So whilst working on Cheryl goals, we also worked on posterior chain weaknesses, mobility and stability building the foundations for strength and endurance training.

2018 Cheryl hasn’t missed a personal training session. Everything I ask of Cheryl she does, then asks for extra. She is a machine!

November 2018 Cheryl completed a St Neots half marathon and smashing her PB 3 mins 22 secs.
